Offences under this act include conducting or helping in the conduct of prenatal diagnostic technique in the unregistered units, sex selection on a man or woman, conducting PND test for any purpose other than the one mentioned in the act, sale, distribution, supply, renting etc. of any ultra sound machine or any other equipment capable of detecting sex of the fetus.
Dhenkanal district suffers from a high degree of disparity among male and female child born, alarmingly 1000:906 (2015-16). Creating awareness and keeping a vigil on practitioners were two ways to prevent it.
Sensitization workshop on Female Feticide (PC & PNDT ACT)

To create the awareness about the female feticide, SOVA has organized sanitation workshop about PC-PNDT act in following GPs. Different resource persons from both Govt. and NGO sector were invited for these workshops.
The workshop was attended by PRI Members, SHG Member, Village Opinion leaders, retired school teachers, and local health personnel.
